Spread Camera

In the float glass process, the spread camera monitors the area where the molten glass flows onto the tin bath and spreads out to form the glass ribbon. An even glass flow at this point is the basis for ribbon thickness, ribbon width and quality.

Application and benefits

  • Visual monitoring of the glass inflow onto the tin bath
  • Assessment of the spreading of the glass ribbon
  • Early detection of irregularities in the glass flow
  • Continuous live image for the control room

Technology for continuous operation at the tank

Due to the high ambient temperatures in the glass industry, camera housings and transfer cylinders are water-cooled. Cooling can be provided by customer-supplied water or by a water/water cooler from SOBOTTA GmbH, whose closed secondary circuit supplies the system with treated cooling water regardless of the water quality.
